Day trip to detroit, michigan! Another state conquered. =) Even though we knew well that there was nothing much there, we decided to heck it and just go there for a walk. Was a 2h+ drive and I didn't drive at all. Muahaha. Slept like crazy at the back.
Ford Museum
Detroit is Motor City, and the Ford museum was the only thing that was supposed to be interesting about it. So that's where we went.
notice the 3 geeks lookin at their cameras
oh, scott went with us as well.. it's spring break! He is so tall he completely blocked someone.. jy? seems like ks also blocked wj or something
coincidentally we happened to watch that Deep Sea 3d show narrated by johnny depp and kate winslet later in the day
headed straight for Michigan Cafe to settle lunch
If you ask someone from Michigan for directions, they'll show you their right palm and draw the directions on the palm. Guess why?
super cute kid cruisers! too bad im overaged.. =(
wj's interesting watch. just wanted to prove that i could squeeze my hand in. luckily never spoil it. So after the meal, we looked around and decided we didn't wanna pay $10+ for admission to the museum. There was also a factory tour for $10+, but we heard there wasn't any assembly taking place on Saturdays. Damn. They should just employ actors to pretend to assemble the cars what! Cheat people money. So we were too cheapo and decided to watch an IMAX movie for $10 (cheapest option!). It was at 5.40 so we had some time to explore detroit first.
Eastern Market
This was, just a market.
very interesting how they just drove their vans in and started selling out of their vehicle
excited over some supposedly sweet grapes that cost $10 for a carton of 10 packets. The first one i tasted was sour. Guess i'm not destined to eat sweet grapes.
something something pussy willow! I thought the people weren't too friendly so I didn't really like this place much. I suppose they were all out to make a living and our photo taking-without buying stuff probably pissed them off.
we bought a whole bag of peaches for $3. Sadly they were very bland, not sweet one. We really ought to stop being so cheapo huh.
they sell stuff in the weirdest places. I was really amused at wj who came all the way to detroit to buy, GARLIC. They say it's cheaper here. -_-"
cute right? oreo with yellow cream!
Downtown Detroit
dunno what building
GM headquarters!
puji planning his next photo
interesting building.. very messy lah, dunno how the architect design one
sexy pose courtesy of ali
there was some car show at the lobby.. cool stuff!
for you EY accting peeps
detroit, being Motor City, is full of car ads
comerica park
ford museum imax theatre
So we came back.. for the movie. We wanted to visit the automobile hall of fame which was in the ford museum compound but it was closed at ~5. Boo. I was super hungry cos I didn't have lunch so i bought popcorn.
President Abraham Lincoln action figure. Hmm if there ever was a president nathan action figure, I wonder who would buy it.
vr man is hungry
darn i look blind here
mr ali noodles acting cute
The show was, fantastic. I didn't know that imax theatres had their speakers behind the screen, and that the screen has holes so that the sound can travel through the screen. The 3d effects were really cool and you can see lots of the audience trying to grab the jellyfish swimming right in front of you.
greektown
we came here to look around and have dinner. It was totally packed! Every single cafe had a long queue. We decided on a very packed restaurant who said it was only a 20-30min wait. We didn't really believe them but oh well, if they say so. The place was quite happening, loads of people milling around.
we had some culture exchange while waiting for the table. there are many words that are used by blacks only, these is the slang that you often hear in rap music. things like 'hooptie' == car, 'diss' == disrespect, and i can't remember anymore. but it's interesting. So presenting to you, scott's quick intro..
