Our first day on Maui! Our whole plan for maui is.. nothing! We planned to experience the laid back maui life style and not do anything much except lazing at the beach etc. Hee..
Our very resort-feel Maui Lu Resort at Kihei
mocha with lots of whipped cream at some diner's
fantastic french toast again! I love sunny side up. Ok, next we went to Boss Frog to rent some snorkelling equipment.. and of course, it's time to look for a good beach to snorkel at! There're basically 2 kinds of beaches, one is good for snorkelling [calm waves, clear water, much marine life] and the other is for surfing [high waves]. We drove south from Kihei along the coast and found a beach which was supposed to be good for snorkelling at Wailea.
Sadly, it rained in the morning so the water was totally murky since the Wailea beach is sandy.. boo. So we continued a little further down to Ahihi bay ( I think) this is a rocky beach so the sand would be less of a problem.

left: Wailea beach. Right: Ahihi bay
It was ok, I suppose you can't expect too much marine life from a beach? I ended up with a few cuts on my right leg from the rocks though.. Boo.
We easily got tired of snorkelling cos there were only a few fish around! So we decided to drive further south.. La Perouse Bay is supposed to have really good marine life.. they even say there may be dolphins! But we couldn't find it.. Now that I search the net, you actually have to hike over some lava rock to reach it. Damn..

loads of lava rock
the best part of maui is driving around in your swim wear hahaha
bought from a road side stall.. feels kinda malaysian!
Since we reached the southmost part of the island that was accessible by car, we headed back north, this time to Kamaole Park I, which is nearer to our hotel in Kihei. We went prepared, with a couple of bamboo mats and these inflatable floats. Which, we took the LONGEST time to inflate them.. We couldn't get air in at all.. and we even resorted to poking the valve with a needle.. but in the end we realised that you gotta bite the valve in order to blow air in.. stupid!!
pb playing in the water
eh it was quite cold ok
Had a good time just doing nothing by the beach. I rike. Even better, good food after doing nothing.. After washing up, we went down to Pupu Lounge which we saw on S. Kihei road on the way back to our resort.
my mango cocktail! sooo tropical right? We shared a seafood pasta and a pupu prawn.. The prawn is fantastic. Pupu means appetizer, the prawn was coated in coconut flakes.
pb wondering when he can start on the food
Er, that's all.
