Party at George's house

Sunday, October 22, 2006

My 2nd invitation to an american home! ain't i popular? hoho.. this time, it was to the house of mr g, da boss! Since we didn't do anything for his bday on October 17th [american bday, so must put month first then day], we [or rather, I] decided to bake a cake and have a mini celebration for him tonight.

i lurrrve the pretty serviettes and plates! it's really cute how he took care of little details like this.

george party 6

see what i mean about little details? i really dont understand how people can just put some junky souvenir from wherever and still make it look good. like how ikea does it in their magazines.. messy but still homely and well decorated. ooh, btw, the picture of me in the header? it was taken here on the pink armchair on the right! haha!

some pre-dinner entertainment. i love his piano it's so quaint and almost antique. it was kinda dusty though. haha.

even the plates, napkins and cutlery were so cute! I've always dreamt of having a house [hdb flat also can but must have aircon] with pretty cutlery like these laid out while i invite my friends over, and have a nice wine and dinner. Nice right? Oh, and there's the dilemma of whether to carpet the house, and whether we could wear shoes inside. You know, americans actually wear their shoes in the house.. and somehow their houses look quite clean leh. Dunno why. And it gives this homely feel to it [the carpet that is. sorry for my convoluted thoughts]. But my point is, if you wanna throw parties in ur house where pple can still look pretty, that's only if they can wear shoes inside. pretty heels and all! cos if must take off shoes, then everyone barefooted, then very off!! who agrees with me. hahaha. ok i shall stop my daydreaming and continue pasting photos...

Brightly coloured flowers! These were removed from the dining table cos they kinda blocked our way. George later gave them to me!!! Haha so sweet right. He claimed that they wld be better appreciated in my apartment. Which means that he actually bought them specially for the occasion.. and it was kinda horrible of us to happily remove it from the dining table. hurhur.

after dinner, we hung around in the tv room behind the dining room. there was a bookshelf full of books and we had a good laugh at his management books. heehee. shan't reveal too much here or i'll get sacked soon. he also showed us pictures of his daughter, a photoalbum she made for him cos he sent her to summer camp, and a photoframe in which she recorded a voice message for him. real sweet. we watched american funniest home videos for a while.. and then proceeded to the hallway with the fireplace to goof around more.

george party 29
his turn to entertain!
george party 41
some instrument which makes the sound of rain.. very soothing.

puji deserves it. no report of workplace violence since we aren't in the office. hehe. that's a paddle from his fraternity. don't ask me what is it i cant remember. cant remember why they have something like that either.

george party 43

after bumming around, we finally decided to play CLUE.. actually george bought it from toysrus, probably for this party. he even emailed us the rules a few days b4 hand but they were freaking 4 pages long. i've played cluedo b4 so i roughly knew the rules.. xs and sebast obediently read through the rules though. he waved off playing the game saying that it was too complicated, though i secretly think he wanted to play it. hahaha. it's a good game for testers, he says. we had lots of fun.. in the end it was Ms White the maid in the.. hahhaaha i can't remember. with a candlestick i think. hhaha. and george won.. call me a sore loser but i think it's unfair cos i got lousy dice rolls and couldn't get to any room. haha. and also if you get less rooms as your clue it's harder cos there are so many rooms.

george party 44

finally we got down to celebrating. we waited til the very last minute cos we were really full from all that food! check out his sheepish face.
