My dearest thumbdrives and aluminium ipod cover had been waitin for me since Friday! and here they are.. hoho! 2gb thumbdrives.. happiness.
well, on sunday night before sleeping in my NYC hostel, i happened to check our contact list and realised that sebast's bday was on sept 1, friday! my my. and we totally ignored it.. haiya. so bad hor. well, also cos andrian's bday was on aug 30 and we din haf a chance to celebrate, we took the chance to have a lil celebration for them.
so the message was passed that we shld meet at 10pm at erwin's place. sebast, erwin and me went to practise driving our car in the evening.. and at 9+ we decided to head back so that we would be in time for the partay! we kinda just told sebast as we were heading up so it wasn't fascinatingly surprising. and erwin stays w andrian so when we all started appearing at andrian's place, it wasn't exactly surprising for andrian as well.
bday boys
german chocolate cake is weird. got coconut flakes one
well, i guess we had lots of fun and laughter. first time singing happy bday in english, chinese, bahasa and hindi. and did rico sing filipino? i cant remember. darn. i only remembered ameek's terrible rendition in hindi. no tune and she just repeated the same word a few times.. everyone was like ?!?!?!?! and bursting in laughter.. haha ameek is such a joker.

People here are fun fun fun! If you ever go off for a honeymoon, make sure your cubicle is out of bounds, or you will suffer! unless you're not really liked by ur colleagues maybe. hmm i wonder then if you will just be ignored or u will get it worse. heh heh.
Anyway, sahi thought she was smart by locking her stuff up b4 leaving for vegas.. little did she know that the lock she used was already exchanged. these pple are conniving! and check out jeff's handiwork.. cool stuff!

Jim from the embedded team and his wife Roseann very very kindly invited all of us to a party at his place. It was so so sweet of him, and very much appreciated because we haven't seen a real american home yet so i was pretty excited.
illegal gathering at our carpark.. waiting for the 2 ladies amk n wj!
on da way on erwin's car. erwin who happily led the other 2 sonatas erwin who was so confident he never bring map and dunno the address erwin who missed the street....
we finally found the house after a few wrong turns!! very much in the country side. had to walk down this long long path to reach their house!
outside is pretty.. the inside is even more amazing. didn't take any inside tho.. not v nice la. What i loved most? their 2 doggies..
comet, who is kinda old and cannot walk properly.. quite sad. he kept having to lie down and rest. but also means i can take more photos haha.
and murphy!!! such a handsome pup! murphy was super enthusiastic, running around, and his tail is damn strong! as he wagged his tail violently upon seeing us me, it was like his tail was whipping me!! ever so curious and poking his nose into everything he could. ruff him to bits!
beautiful patio behind
Our lovely hosts had provided like tonnes of games and sports for us. there was soccer, bball, vball, badminton, horseshoes, this cricket thing.. i didn't play tho. i just sat around and gazed at murphy.. haha think i have a crush on him.
murphy kept wanting to join in. he was an excellent ball picker! except that he would refuse to let go of the ball. actually at this point of time.. the ball was stuck in his teeth. heehee. he was locked up in the house after this so that he wldn't interfere w the game.. =( poor murphy, he was the best player, and they locked him up!
ooh, and guess what this is? nope it isn't something out of the garden! it's called DIRT. hehe freaking cute. its for kids, and its made of pudding, whipped cream. the top is made of oreos, and they put gummy worms inside. very fun hor? i didn't eat it though.. haha
as it got dark, jim lit a fire in his backyard, and everyone started to sit around it.. toasting marshmallows, popcorn and sausages. i cant describe it well, but it was really cosy, and it just felt so warm [literally and figuratively] being there, sitting around and eating and chatting. only in my wildest dreams cld i ever own a house like that. it's a scene straight out of an american movie i tell ya. so, we had a fantastic time. it was awesome and it was entirely thanks to their generosity that we got to experience an american home!
my fav photo of the day. comet's pawpaw

it was a lazy sunday, woke up at 11+ to george's phone call jio-ing us to go watch a free jazz concert at the african american museum from 4-6. Amidst getting more pple to go, i decided to make a very singaporean sunday brunch of...
copi, prata and beef rendang!!
Surreal isn't it. Only hafta replace the copi with teh tarik and i'm all set. Heh. Well the prata was made in s'pore, it's the 'chinatown' brand prata and it tastes pretty good! i'm impressed. the beef rendang was one of sahyi's prima pack.. it was super yummy, but i tink i did osmething wrong and it was way too coconutty-ish sweet. but it was awesome! [do i sound american? with all my awwwwesomes. hurhur]
So after my lazy sunday brunch, we met george who brought us downtown to the museum. The jazz concert was nice, though i'm not much of a concert person, tend to sleep when i hear classical/jazzy music. I think i'm kinda superficial cos the museum was kinda old and all, the performance was in this hall that was like some huay4 guan3 place. And I cldn't help thinking that i would have enjoyed the music more if it was in a nicely decorated pub, coupled with a nice cocktail. Quite bad hor. Also didn't help that I couldn't understand the singer's accent, didn't know the lyrics of the song. The only song I had heard of was Nat King Cole's nature boy, which i heard from moulin rouge, and i really really love.
the people were really nice and all, it was almost like a church gathering, everyone knew each other, and were supportive and cheerful to one another. And they also welcomed us the 'singaporeans' and said 'spore is a beautiful place' even though they probably dunno anything abt spore, or all they know is probably michael fay.
what i brought back with me wasn't the jazz music, but what i learnt about these 'people of colour'. about how friendly they were [to each other at least]. and also about their history. we've always known that their ancestors were slaves and were inhumanely tortured and squeezed in ships. knowing such things at the back of my head is one thing, but seeing the actual torture instruments, and images of them in horrible living conditions, hung to death, in chains, in contraptions made to make sure they cldn't lie down, really scared the hell out of me. i was really disturbed by a certain pincer like instrument which had a caption next to it saying that it was used to pinch a man's testicles, a woman's nipple, and also, to pull a foetus out of a pregnant lady's belly. =(
